Stylish Holidays representative will pickup you today for a mixing tour, you will start by visiting the High Dam, an engineering miracle built between 1960 and 1976 to protect Egypt from annual floods from the Nile. Construction of the Aswan High Dam commenced in 1960 and just four years later, the first phase was reached and the Lake Nasser reservoir began to fill. The High Dam finally completed in its entirety by 1976. More than 35,000 people were involved in constructing Dam, which has become a huge source of energy in Egypt, and before the floodwaters of Lake Nasser arrived, no less than 24 different major archeological sites and temples were successfully relocated, so that they would not be lost beneath the waters forever.
After that proceed to visit the Unfinished Obelisk in Aswan Northern Quarries, which shows the techniques used by the ancient Egyptians to cut obelisks. Historically, the quarries of Aswan became the number one source of granite in Egypt and this particular partly carved obelisk has become one of the city’s most famous ancient tourists attractions.
Offering a true insight into the Egyptian past craft of stone carving, the Unfinished Obelisk is huge and measures almost 50 meters / 160 feet and remains in this state after being abandoned when a noticeable crack appeared in the granite.
Then we board a motor boat sailing on the Nile to reach an island to visit a beautiful temple on this island, the Temple of Philae, which was built by Ancient Egyptians for the Goddess Isis on Philae island, but the temple became submerged after the first Aswan dam was built in 1906, and it was not until the seventies that many nations attempted to save the Temple. All these countries, together with UNESCO, selected a suitable place, but they had to wait until the completion of the High Dam, in 1971, which would stabilize the level of the water around their chosen island. The new island was called Egilica (also called Agilika), and it was completely reshaped to imitate Philae Island as closely as possible.
After that, we will board our motor boat to sail back to city of Aswan and transfer back to hotel
